Detection

Searching Lockers

Dogs Against Drugs (D.A.D.) has been providing professional, reliable and consistent detection services for Oklahoma school systems since 1983. All D.A.D. Handlers are C.L.E.E.T. Certified annually with their canine partners and recognized as drug detection teams. This certification process confirms their ability to work together effectively and to detect marijuana, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines and barbiturates. In addition, our drug dogs are trained to detect alcohol.

D.A.D. feels very strongly about the safety and well-being of students both in discouraging the use of illegal and dangerous substances as well as their safety around drug detection canines. We only use friendly, non-aggressive canines. We currently have Labradors & Golden Retrievers. Our canines have wonderful dispositions and love being around people. Additionally, these breeds are bred to be hunters, so what better dogs to use for drug detection.

Through our experience, we have found that high visibility is a successful deterrent for students. In addition, clients that work closely with their D.A.D. Representative greatly enhance the effectiveness of their detection services. Unannounced visits are very effective, because the students are never sure when the drug dog will be on campus. Our Representatives don't schedule their visits on the same day of the week repeatedly and may even search a school 2 days in a row. The presence of D.A.D. detection teams make students uncomfortable bringing and having illegal substances at school.

Our detection teams search lockers, book bags, purses, gym bags, restrooms, locker rooms, classrooms, common areas, parking lots, vehicles, building perimeters ...anywhere the students go - the drug dog goes. When searching classrooms, our handlers will not direct the dog to "sniff" a student. Our dogs will search the perimeter of the room, go up and down the aisles and search book bags, purses, etc., but the dog is never directed to a student. Our Representative will notify the school's administration if their dog has an alert and the school official can handle the situation at their sole discretion.

D.A.D.'s detection services are always handled in the strictest of confidence. Any alerts or finds at a school will not be discussed outside of the school, nor from building-to-building. Our handlers will not discuss situations with anyone other than their directed contact. Paperwork related to contraband is completed at the end of each search (taking only a short time to complete). Any contraband found must be turned into the local law enforcement agency by the Representative or a school official (keeping in mind that it is illegal for anyone other than law enforcement to "keep" illegal contraband).

All D.A.D. Representatives will check in with their contact person prior to actively searching and will always check out with their contact person when their search has been completed. Activity reports are completed at the end of each search, signed by a school official and left with our client at the end of each visit. These reports keep our client's administration informed about where our teams are searching and are used by our Representatives to insure that each school has been covered adequately from visit-to-visit.

The majority of our clients prefer for our Representatives to search their campus independently. Under these circumstances, our Representatives will immediately notify the school's contact when they have an alert and will either continue with their campus search or, when requested, accompany the school official as they investigate the alert. We do have clients that prefer to have their Resource Officer or other school official accompany our team in order to handle any reported alerts as they occur. Dogs Against Drugs and our teams will follow each school's guidelines and provide detection services that best fits the needs of our clients. We are there to support each school's administration and the students.

D.A.D can provide 2 hours of detection services or hundreds of hours of detection as requested by our clients.  We have the flexibility to provide services as needed and when needed.  We will be glad to advise the recommended number of hours required to adequately search your campus and work closely with you to ensure you are getting the coverage that you feel is necessary.

Contact us today and we will tell you more about the opportunities we have in partnering with your school in our fight against the deadly combination of children and drugs in Oklahoma.
